PoPpOrTuNiTy Holiday Program - Alice Springs

Do you know a talented young musician who writes their own songs and is ready to take their craft to a new level by laying it down in a professional recording studio?

We want to hear about them!

CAAMA Music knows that Alice Springs has talent and they want to hear the freshest sounds in town on one toe-tapping CD. With the school holidays less than three weeks away, their music producers are gearing up for the creation of PoPpOrTuNiTy, a “desert pop, feel-good dance music” album featuring original tracks written by local singer/songwriters. And they need you to help find them!

CAAMA want to showcase what’s happening musically in Alice by giving young people (aged between 12-20 years) the opportunity to come into their studio and work with professional music producers and a live session band. Running right through the holidays from the 22nd June – 17th July, participants must be available and ready to work with experienced music producers in a demanding environment, with only four weeks to take their original songs and arrange them for a live session backing band, for the creation of PoPpOrTuNiTy – a CD featuring the musical stylings of emerging young singer/songwriters. The CD will showcase what music and pop culture in Alice is all about.

By working with a live session band to arrange their songs, and then recording in CAAMA’s state-of-the-art music studio, emerging singer/songwriters will gain real industry experience and knowledge of recording processes, and will have the product necessary to kickstart their music career. Running from the 22nd June – 17th July, this intensive workshop program will focus on developing participants vocal technique and understanding of recording processes.

CAAMA would like to arrange if possible to come to your school (in the Alice region) in the last week of term to meet with young people interested in having their original song included on the PoPpOrTuNiTy Compilation CD.
