You might have heard - so in demand was last week's 'Northern Thrash Attack' at Happy Yess that the good folk at venue were forced to put on a second all ages gig to satisfy local demand for metal..!
By all accounts both gigs went off like a frog in a sock! (Friday night September 25 and Saturday arvo, September 26).
Nico Liengme from Queensland band
Shrapnel was kind enough to write a few words about the gig, and send a few photos though. Legend.
"The
Shrapnel boys flew into Darwin on the red eye on Friday morning and after a few hours' sleep we spent the day at the
Music NT rehearsal space catching up on 6 months of rehearsal absence. Turns out we were pretty good-to-go without too much work, so we took off to the Happy Yess to get things organised."
"
Amagon - one of the local supporting bands - had to pull out on account of their singer being ill, but they managed to pull off a short set with the help of Steve from Vicious Apathy doing vocals. Supports from
Abysm,
Vicious Apathy and
Twisted Sphincter went off without a hitch."

Shrapnel played to a capacity crowd on the Friday night with great feedback. Unfortunately, our professional photographer had his camera swiped at Discovery later that night, so all our photos of the performance were lost! But a bunch of photos were taken of other shenanigans throughout the night as well as the following at Squires Tavern, so there's ample captures memories of the events."
Right, Dan from Shrapnel.
"The Saturday all-ages show had a lesser turnout but a solid crowd of enthusiastic kids went ballistic during the Shrapnel performance. Supports from
Crassic Park and
Vicious Apathy were solid, although
Slaughtertorall (the new project from
Death Wish/Surrender the Dead guys) were unable to play due to time constraints."
"Thanks again to
Happy Yess and all of the bands we played with. Darwin should be able to look forward to more interstate metal shows from
Top End Terror as of early next year, as well as a few local gigs in the meantime..."
